A-Plus schools released its annual report on Pittsburgh Public Schools today, highlighting funding, attendance, access to gifted and arts programming and the concentration of poverty in schools as major challenges in the district.

James Fogarty with A-Plus schools says they've led to declining enrollment.
The district has lost nearly 3,000 students since 2016, the equivalent of 11 elementary schools.

"That challenge is one that I believe we can meet, but it requires us to think deeply about how we redesign the system and how folks are engaged in that process," said Fogarty.

A-Plus Schools and PPS have created a number of initiatives for families - like tutoring resources, literacy lessons through text and a hotline for learning resource issues.
