Allegheny Conference on Community Development unveils new name

Pittsburgh's Headlines: October 14, 2026

The Allegheny Conference on Community Development has a new name.

The prominent public-private partnership has officially rebranded itself as the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, retiring its original name after 82 years of civic leadership.

Leaders say the change was made to better reflect the organization's 10-county footprint and maximize its effectiveness in regional marketing and investment attraction.

“Our name now states clearly what we’ve always done: work as one Southwestern Pennsylvania region, across all counties,” said Leroy Ball, Koppers CEO & Board Chair and Incoming Alliance Board Chair. “By operating the organization and all of its affiliates under the unified banner of Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, we improve the ability to market the region, attract transformative investments, advocate for critical infrastructure, and build regional workforce pipelines.”

Founded in 1943 by Richard King Mellon, Mayor David L. Lawrence and other leaders, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance has helped attract businesses and other investments into the Pittsburgh region over its 80 years.
