Pittsburgh-area retail store under Consumer Alert after rodent infestation

A discount retail store in the Pittsburgh area is under Consumer Alert after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The Dollar Tree store on East 8th Avenue in Homestead is under alert after evidence of a rodent infestation.

Inspectors found chewed wafer and bagel chips in the back of the store.

Also crumb and “fresh” mouse droppings were found on several shelves in the back of the store along with on the bottom shelf in the candy aisle near the front registers.

The Health Department says the rodent issue must be resolved by November 24 when a reinspection will occur.

“If there are still fresh mouse droppings and chewed product at that time facility may be ordered to close,” an inspection.
