Boa constrictor discovered in Pittsburgh backyard

Pittsburgh's Headlines: June 29, 2026

Someone made an alarming discovery in a Pittsburgh home's backyard Monday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says a large boa constrictor was discovered in the Mt. Oliver neighborhood on Church Avenue.

Animal Care and Control says the snake was “lazily lounging on the raised pool deck” and was taken to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.

Officials say while it is legal to own certain exotic pets in the City of Pittsburgh, including boa constrictors, “owners are responsible for ensuring their pets are security contained.”
