Pittsburgh is the nation's top city for LGBTQ+ home buyers according to a new ranking.

Real estate website Realtor.com ranked the steel city ahead of others including Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Long Beach.

The site says a number of factors were taken into consideration such as the number of married or same-sex couples who live together as well as housing costs.

The average cost for a home in the region is $299,050.

Also, the cities had to have their own Pride festival.

“‘Queer as Folk’ kind of put Pittsburgh on the gay map,” Brian Larson with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Pittsburgh told the website. “Since then, our pride festivals have grown year over year into something that has really kind of been a destination.”

Making up the top 5 are Pittsburgh (1), Providence, RI (2), Virginia Beach, VA (3), Fort Lauderdale, FL (4) and Madison, WI (5).
