The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium says a $10 million anonymous donation will help them move forward on two key parts of their master plan.

Zoo President and CEO Doctor Jeremy Goodman says that includes a new giraffe barn.

“For the first time ever, people will be able to see the giraffes year-round,” Goodman tells KDKA Radio. “Previously they’ve been off exhibit the colder months, but now based off the new location of the building, people will be able to enjoy our giraffes year-round.”

The gift will help the zoo begin to design its Expedition Indonesia exhibit as well.

While that will take a few years to complete, once its open to the public, it will take visitors into a replica of Indonesian forest, featuring safe surroundings for orangutans, siamangs and Malaysian Tapirs all of which are endangered.

Expedition Indonesia will take two years to plan and two years to build.

Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.
