O'Connor announces PNC making $2 million donation for more city trucks

The mayor's office announced this morning that PNC Foundation is gifting the city $2 million dollars to invest in the Department of Public Works' fleet and snow equipment.

The announcement comes one day after UPMC said it was donating $10 million to the city to overhaul its aging emergency services, specifically funding nine new ambulances and a rescue truck.

On this morning's Big K Morning Show, Mayor Corey O'Connor said the $2 million donation from PNC will go to buy another 15 plow trucks.

“Obviously they’re not coming overnight but this is just going to increase the volume of our fleet, it’s going to allow us to get rid of some of those older trucks that are breaking down,” O’Connor said.

He also vowed that the money from these investments will go where it's supposed to go.

“The investments that we’re seeing shows that Pittsburghers care,” said O’Connor. “Reach out, talk to them, tell them about your vision and I don’t want money from a non-profit or a business to go into filling in the coffers of a mistake that government made. This money has to go directly to impact our residents, and that’s what it’s going to do.”
