Bethel Park Police arrested two men Monday in connection to a “grandparent scam” that was circulating around the area.

The caller pretended to be a public defender and said their son was in a crash and in jail. Victims were instructed to send over $12,000 in a secret bail agreement for the release of their child.
A bail bondsman was sent to the house to collect the cash. Moments later, 29-year-old Noel Medrano-Abreu and 23-year-old Wilson Burgos Hernandez were taken into custody.
Both were charged with corrupt organizations, dealing in the proceeds of illegal activity, criminal conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility, criminal attempt theft by deception and criminal attempt theft by unlawful taking.
