Following the second alligator sighting in the Kiski River, the police chief is talking crackdown.
In August, Chomper was spotted in the water and later captured.
This month, kayakers saw Neo, a two-and-a-half-foot alligator that escaped an enclosure.
In a statement, Kiski's police chief says information he's seen leads him to believe "there could be two or more alligators on the loose" in the area.
The chief also says people who violate reptile laws will be charged with releasing a non-native species into a Commonwealth waterway.
The Tribune-Review reports Kiski's solicitor has drafted a new ordinance making it illegal to own, possess or transport an alligator.
Fines range from $300 to $1,000.
