Police and EMS find stranded car on train tracks on West Carson Street

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio KDKA) — At 9 a.m. Saturday morning, a lone Zone 6 officer discovered a stranded vehicle on the railroad tracks near the 2900 block of West Carson Street.

There were still two people in the car: a male driver and a female passenger.

Police restricted traffic to one lane to help get to the elderly couple in the stuck car.

Pittsburgh EMS and Pittsburgh Firefighters quickly arrived to help free the two from inside the vehicle.

Medics were able to free the elderly couple and get them up over the rail.

The two elders were taken to the hospital in stable condition after being extricated.

While it's uncertain what exactly happened, some police speculate that the driver had entered the CSX rails via a service road in McKees Rock.
