A 43-year-old man was shot and killed by a Pittsburgh Police officer on Thursday night after police were searching for a missing woman.

Pittsburgh Police reported that an officer-involved shooting had occurred along Rydal Street in the city's Westwood neighborhood just before 11 p.m.

Pittsburgh Police were out searching for a missing woman from Robinson Township and when they located her missing car they approached the home where the vehicle was located.

That's when a 43-year-old man who was armed came to the door and confronted the officers.

One of the officers then shot that man and he died on the scene. Police then raided the home and found the missing woman inside.

The District Attorney's Office will now take over the case according to Allegheny County Police.
