Pittsburgh Police are investigating a possible bank robbery attempt that ended up closing streets in the downtown area Wednesday afternoon.
Just before noon, police were called to the PNC Bank near Duquesne University.
A man inside the bank handed a teller a note. Police did not say what was on the note, but it prompted the call to police for a report of a robbery.
Once police were on the scene, the man was sitting outside with a backpack.
Police detained the man without incident.
Police closed streets near the bank, evacuated the area and asked the public to avoid it.
The bomb squad was called in to check the backpack.
Shortly before 2pm, police gave the scene an all clear to reopen the area.
The investigation into the incident continues.
