A man in Southwestern Pennsylvania picking up a prescription for his wife that recently suffered a heart attack decided to stop and play the lottery on his way home.
That decision to stop turned into $1 million!
Tony Corso stopped at the Walmart Pharmacy in South Union Township back in July to pick up the prescription while the Powerball jackpot was at $600 million.
Tony spent $20 on Powerball tickets and it paid off. “I like to play when the jackpot gets big,” said Corso.
The morning after the Saturday, July 25 drawing Corso checked his tickets and one ticket prompted a message that said “see clerk.”
“I thought, ‘That’s strange,’” said Corso. “I threw it back on my counter until Monday came along.”
It was then that he checked his numbers on the Lottery’s website with his wife next to him.
“She started saying, ‘I can’t breathe!’” said Corso. “Then she said, ‘Well, I think you’re a millionaire!’”
Corso recently retired after running a small tire business and says he is focusing on his wife. Her birthday is on Friday, September 11.
“To me, her life is more important,” Corso shared. “This prize will help my wife fully retire.”
Corso says he also plans on spending time with his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
