The man who played a major role in the Quecreek Mine rescue now needs rescue himself.
It was back in 2002 that Jeff Kravitz led a rescue team that saved the lives of nine miners at the Quecreek Mine, with the help of a capsule that he developed 30 years earlier.
"We had to fight to actually keep it", he says, "because after we developed it, people wanted to junk it, and I said no, someday that's going to become handy".
Now, 21 years later, it's Kravitz himself that is looking to be rescued.
The 75-year-old Sewickley man has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and doctors told he needs a living donor for a kidney transplant to survive.
"He said, you have a golden opportunity right now to get the word out, you're up for a transplant. You've been approved for it but if you don't find a donor, you're going to be in dire straits, sir".
