One of the sister's bridges will be closed weeknights for at least two months.
The Rachel Carson Bridge will shut down between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting next Monday. Allegheny County's Department of Public Works made the announcement today.
The closures are needed to install new lighting. Traffic will detour using Fort Duquesne Boulevard, the Andy Warhol Bridge and Isabella Street on the North Side.
The only time the bridge will remain open is during cases of inclement weather.
One sidewalk on the bridge will remain open during the closure hours. When the work is finished, the lighting project shifts to the Andy Warhol Bridge.
The enhanced lighting also goes to the Roberto Clemente Bridge in late 2023. It's already closed for rehab and is scheduled to reopen next year in December.
