Rally planned for former Pine-Richland football coach Eric Kasperowicz

A rally in support of former Pine-Richland football coach Eric Kasperowicz is planned for Monday night.

The Pine-Richland Youth United Football and Cheer organization is planning the event.

The rally is scheduled to take place at 7:15pm Monday night, April 19, at the Richland Park concession stand near the football field.

In an email, the PRYL Board wrote, "There is rarely an example of what we want for our children's future like Coach K. We as members of this community want to retain key people that make it great like Coach Kasperowicz."

Last week, Kasperowicz and his assistants were informed via email that their contracts were not being renewed and that the district would be posting openings for the jobs.

Reports indicate that the decision was made due to alleged hazing and bullying during Kasperowicz's tenure as high school football coach.

Many in the community, including players, coaches, students and parents don't believe the allegations to to be true and were shocked by the sudden decision by the district.

Former quarterbacks coach Dr. Todd Jochem told News Radio KDKA's Marty Griffin "In my ten years there, which was before Coach Kasper and with Coach Kasper, I never saw any hazing or bullying. On the football team and frankly, with my children being in school there, you see people get in disagreements and each and every time, we addressed everything. Completely," he said.

On Friday, the school board held a special virtual session during which one board member resigned. Immediately following the session, the job posting for the head coaching position was made.

Kasperowicz applied for his old job.
