The City of Pittsburgh threw its hat in the ring for the 2024 Republican National Convention in December of 2021, but that appears to no longer be the case.
Politico is reporting that Pittsburgh is no longer in the running to host the big convention, that would've brought a lot of business to the area.
Despite Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey submitting Pittsburgh as a possible option, he told Politico that it did come with some questions.
Gainey noted that "safety, COVID-19 mitigation and the impact on the city" were on his mind as Pittsburgh remained one of the options.
The report continues to state that Nashville's bid skyrocketed in interest.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said hosting the 2024 RNC would help revitalize the downtown area. Meanwhile, City Councilman Rickey Burgess was more focused on safety, citing it could've been dangerous.
