Residents who evacuated a Downtown apartment building have returned to their units.

A fire was reported Tuesday night around 6:45 at Midtown Towers in the 600 block of Liberty Avenue.

Firefighters say heavy smoke was coming from an apartment on the 13th floor.

The flames were knocked down quickly and did not spread to other units.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

In 2017, a fatal fire at Midtown Towers did so much damage, the building's interior was gutted and rebuilt.

More than 100 people lost their homes in that fire seven years ago.
