A restaurant in Southwestern PA was hit with several violations after food inspection by the state on Monday.
The Department of Agriculture’s food safety program says Sushi Wa on Wagner Road, off Brodhead Road, in Monaca, Beaver County was hit with several violations.
The violations include raw meat found stored about ready-to-eat food in a walk-in cooler. The meat was moved to the proper shelf.
Several soda nozzles, along with a food contact surface, were seen with food residue. An employee told the inspector that the soda nozzles were not being cleaned. All seven nozzles were cleaned before the inspection concluded.
Open, ready-to-eat foods were not properly dated inside the walk-in cooler. Inspectors explained that food items need to date marked. All of the food was then given the proper dates.
Old food, a scouring pad and dish soap was found in the handwash-only sink. The facility told inspectors they are washing dishes in the hand sink. Inspectors told the workers they can not wash dishes in the handwashing sink.
The restaurant is allowed to continuing operating while “out of compliance.”
