A law the Governor signed in July that tightens the telemarketing industry is now in effect.
The law prohibits a telemarketing company from spoofing a phone number to make it look like its coming from the recipient's area code.
It also prohibits robocallers after 7 p.m. or before 9 a.m. on weekdays.
It outright bars telemarketing calls on Sunday.
