A popular pizzeria in the Pittsburgh area will be closed for the foreseeable future.
Rockaway Pizza on South Braddock Avenue in Regent Square announced this week it will be closed due to a medical issue with its owner.
Josh Sickels says he has multiple herniated disc’s in his spine and has decided to focus on rehabilitation.
Sickels says the pizzeria “will update when we are planning to reopen. Thank you.”
While fans of Rockaway are sad about the closure, an overwhelming number of people are glad Josh is putting his health first.
“Work on your physical and mental health it’s the most important thing you can do for yourself and your customers. Cheers,” one commenter on Facebook wrote.
Rockaway is known for its New York-style, Sicilian and specialty pizzas.
The pizzeria recently moved from White Oak to Edgewood and has finished in the top 5 of the Bubba Show Best Pizza in Pittsburgh contest on 100.7 Star.
Check Rockaway's website for any updates on a reopening date.
