PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Pennsylvania is experienving an explosion of fraudulent unemployment claims.
This comes weeks after the rollout of the new unemployment filing system.
"It may have created some vulnerabilities as the new system was being integrated," said Alex Halper, Director of Government Affairs with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Tuesday. "That combined with some data breaches that have occurred and some of the new unemployment programs created to help folks during the pandemic - all these things have come together to create an opportunity for some bad actors out there."
If you feel someone has filed for unemployment in your name, you can report the fraud here.
You should also discuss the case with your employer if you believe you have been targeted.
