For the second time in three days someone with a gun was stopped at the TSA checkpoint at Pittsburgh International.
A Bradford County woman had a loaded 38-caliber handgun in her one of her carry-on items.
Federal penalties for bringing weapons to a checkpoint can reach $15,000.
Passengers can check a bag with a firearm in it, but cannot take a gun on an airplane.
32 guns have been stopped by the TSA so far this year, that's already six more compared to last year and three away from the most over the past seven years.
35 were stopped in 2019.
"The high number of travelers who are bringing their loaded guns to our security checkpoints needs to stop. There is absolutely no excuse for bringing a firearm to one of our checkpoints," said Karen Keys-Turner, TSA's Federal Security Director for the airport. "Travelers are responsible for the items that they have in their possession. guns should never be brought to the security checkpoint in carry-on luggage. Responsible gun owners know this," she said.
