Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was in Pittsburgh on Monday to announce the groups selected under the EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program, but that wasn’t the main reason reporters wanted to talk to him.
“Are we not talking about concrete anymore?” asked Shapiro as a reporter inquired if he would join Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket if she asked him to become her running mate during an event on Neville Island.
Shapiro didn’t give a direct answer, talking first about current President Joe Biden’s time in office.
Shapiro said that Biden “honorably” served Pennsylvania and the United States. “I couldn’t be more grateful for President Biden’s service.”
The Democrat added that he spoke with Biden shortly after his announcement to drop out of the race and that he is willing to do whatever it takes to help Harris defeat Trump in November, but would not say one way or the other if he would join Harris, if asked.
“I’m focused every single day on three letters, G-S-D,” said Shapiro. “We focus on getting s**t done.”
Shapiro is among several Democrats who could join Kamala Harris on the ticket if she wins the nomination.
Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Maryland Governor Wes Moore are among the names suggested as possible running mates.
