The Shell Polymers or cracker plant in Monaca will conduct an emergency drill on Thursday.
The company says its part of a permit requirement and must be completed every three years.
During the drill, those living near the plant will likely hear site alarms that will be activated.
Shell’s emergency response team and the Oil Spill Response Organization will be deployed to the Ohio River.
Local emergency crews near the plant will also be on hand during the drill.
The exercise is expected to last around two hours.
