The Shuman Juvenile Detention Center is set to reopen following major renovations. The contracted company has secured a certificate of occupancy, although an operating license is still pending.
According to an Allegheny County spokesperson, Shuman is anticipated to resume operations within the next two to three weeks. The staff is already onsite at Shuman and have been getting training at Adelphoi for several months
Shuman will open in stages, first with 12 beds and 30 staffers.
