State Rep. Eric Nelson says COVID numbers are not what they once were, and that's part of the reason why he has joined a lawsuit filed by a group of 20 parents against four Westmoreland County school districts over their state-imposed mask mandates.
Nelson, who has three children in the Hempfield Area School District, tells the NewsRadio KDKA morning show that the mandates are not about safety, they're about control:
"If this was about safety", he says, "then we would be recognizing antibodies, recognizing that a large portion of our population has recovered, and that includes children".
The lawsuit calls for a judge to allow the districts to revert back to their previously voted-on mask-optional policies.
