State Rep. Eric Nelson explains why he's joined lawsuit over mask mandates in schools

A group of 20 parents are suing four Westmoreland County school districts over their mask mandates.

State Rep. Eric Nelson says COVID numbers are not what they once were, and that's part of the reason why he has joined a lawsuit filed by a group of 20 parents against four Westmoreland County school districts over their state-imposed mask mandates.

Nelson, who has three children in the Hempfield Area School District, tells the NewsRadio KDKA morning show that the mandates are not about safety, they're about control:

"If this was about safety", he says, "then we would be recognizing antibodies, recognizing that a large portion of our population has recovered, and that includes children".

The lawsuit calls for a judge to allow the districts to revert back to their previously voted-on mask-optional policies.
