The Steelers are also one of just four NFL teams that still conduct training camp on a college campus. Their first year at Saint Vincent College was 1966.
Then head coach Bill Austin thought the University of Rhode Island was too far away.
So, change may still be a constant but it happens slowly and deliberately with the Steelers.
First year head coach Mike McCarthy knows all too well what Steelers Nation and training in Latrobe is all about. Born and raised in Greenfield, coach is about as Pittsburgh as you can get.
At his introductory press conference, he was overwhelmed with emotion. This is truly his dream job and despite beating the Steelers in the Super Bowl as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers, no one will ever need to question his allegiance, desire, or love for the city and it’s great football team.
