Steelers legend and NFL Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis is dawning the green and gold once again, but not on the football field.
The former-tailback announced he is returning to the University of Notre Dame to finish his degree 27 years after he declared for the NFL Draft in 1995. Bettis took to Twitter, braving the January weather, to make his declaration.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans last saw Bettis as he was getting wearing a gold jacket in Canton, Ohio. He entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2015 alongside former greats such as Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Junio Seau, Will Shields and more.
Bettis played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and Steelers. At the time of his induction, he ranked fifth all-time in rushing yards with 13,662. Bettis was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and rushed for more than 100 years 61 times.
