Pittsburgh is in a big spotlight this weekend with the Steelers playing the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland.

Visit Pittsburgh President and CEO Jerad Bachar about the upcoming match told KDKA his organization will take advantage of the opportunity to promote the city as a destination.

"Obviously we have the British Airways connection to London, so relatively easy to get from Ireland over to Pittsburgh with one stop through Heathrow. We're partnering with PA Tourism, we'll be over there with the Steelers hand in hand meeting with Travel Trade Media and really talking about Pittsburgh in a big way," he said.

He added that he is expecting to see a lot of black and gold in the stands.

"Croke Park, what is the capacity a little over 83,000? That game is as you know and has stated that has been sold out and oversold for a long time, so it really is gonna be an incredible scene. Obviously the Vikings fans will show up but I think no one shows up like a Steelers fan," he said.

The game starts Sunday morning at 9:30.

Many Pittsburghers are interested in the game for reasons outside of football.

According to Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission Executive Director Rich Fitzgerald, 400,000 people in the region can trace their ancestry to Ireland.

"One in six people in this region have some connection. Might be back a century, it might be back a couple of decades, but there's an interest," he told KDKA.

In addition, he says that there are over 400 Irish companies located in Pennsylvania employing over 17,000 workers.
