A letter to families in the Belle Vernon School District says a fifth-grade student at Marion Elementary was overheard making the threat Tuesday on the bus ride home from school.
The boy will not be at school while the threat is investigated.

Valley High School is closed following the incident after classes on Tuesday.
The superintendent said students would not be learning remotely today because it was, in his words, "too late to put something together."
Officers found five shell casings in the area where the shots were fired about a mile away from the high school.
There were no injuries and police say they have identified a suspect.
