One local police department is reminding residents of a game played by high school seniors that could create safety concerns around Pittsburgh.

Shaler and Moon Police are telling the public that the game “senior assassins” is taking place around the area.

The game involves students using water guns to “tag” someone on an opposing team.

The game includes players trying to stay stealthy that that could include kids hiding in bushes, near cars or homes and other areas, even at night.

“While many students see this as just a fun tradition or game, it can create safety concerns when realistic-looking items or suspicious behavior are involved,” Police said on Facebook. “Actions like hiding near homes, bushes, or cars can easily be mistaken for something more serious and may cause alarm in the community, thus initiating a police response. This is especially concerning when it occurs at night.”

While not supporting the game, police say they understand that “kids will be kids” and want everyone to stay staff.

Police are asking the public to be mindful and if you see anything suspicious to not hesitate and contact your local department.
