KDKA Radio's Colin Dunlap updates on suspect's connection to Judge Orenstein
25-year-old Anthony Quesen is accused of killing 44-year-old Benjamin Brallier yesterday afternoon in the 1900 block of Hassam Road in the Robinson/Moon area.
According to KDKA Radio’s Colin Dunlap, Quesen, who also goes by Antonia Kaseim, was released on non-monetary bail by Magisterial District Judge Xander Orenstein after Quesen/Kaseim was arrested in June 2023 for a felony robbery at Point State Park.
According to court records, Quesen/Kaseim never returned to court. Dunlap says police have been searching for the suspect since. He adds the suspect has been homeless since.
“I said a long time ago, Xander Orenstein letting somebody out on non-monetary bail was going to get someone killed . . . here we are,” said Dunlap. “Xander Orenstein letting someone out on non-monetary bond got someone killed.”
Judge Orenstein was pulled from arraignment hearings this past April for an indefinite amount of time after several suspects, some facing serious crimes, were granted non-monetary or no-cash bail.
Even a man arrested, accused of having a large amount of fentanyl and a kilo of cocaine at a Downtown Pittsburgh bus station in September 2023 was surprised Orenstein released him on non-monetary bail.
That suspect Yan Carlos Pichardo Cepeda was returned to Allegheny County after an arrest in New York City.
A GoFundMe has been established to help the family of Benjamin Brallier.
