PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — Pittsburgh Police were called to Wilson Avenue Wednesday morning for reports of a man in a vehicle with some sort of weapon.
Officers responded at around 9 a.m.
The man attempted to flee officers in the vehicle albeit at low speeds.
Police used stop sticks and were successful in bringing the vehicle to a stop.
The police were able to bring the male to a stop in the 2200 block of Perrysville Avenue.
As a precaution, the man's vehicle was also blocked, to keep him from dashing off.
SWAT was eventually called in once the man had barricaded himself in the vehicle.
Negotiators worked to remain in communication with the man.
At around 10:45 a.m., the man attempted to drive off again, so gas was deployed and the K-9 officer unleashed.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital with no injuries.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
