Pittsburgh Public Schools Students went back to class today alongside a new superintendent.
It may not be Dr. Wayne Walters' first day in his role. He served as interim Superintendent for part of last year and has 30 years of experience at Pittsburgh Public Schools
It is his first day of classes in a permanent sense, all experience he feels will serve him well moving forward, especially when working alongside teachers.
"I think they see someone who can relate to them, who knows them and who understands their journey. I'm happy I can be in this position to make their jobs more effective."
Walters visited eight schools Monday and plans to continue making stops throughout the week.
