The stars of “The PITT” are back in Pittsburgh for production at Allegheny General Hospital.
Cast and crew of HBO Max’s Emmy-winning medical drama are filming exterior scenes ahead of Season 3.
They are filming at the LifeFlight helipad and other entryways into the facility.
KDKA Radio’s Andrew Limberg spoke with star Noah Wyle about how the show is building empathy for real-life doctors and nurses.
“I have heard from a lot of physicians that patients are coming in with more of a sense of context for why they’re waiting as long as they are and a little more empathy and understanding for why someone else might be treated in front of them, they may have a more severe injury,” said Wyle.
Patrick Ball, who plays Dr. Langdon says he’s happy to be back in Pittsburgh.
“I took a little walk around this morning and went and found my coffee shop that I was at last year and got stopped on the street by a couple of people that said ‘hey’ which feels really nice,” said Ball. “These are the people’s whose stories that we’re telling so whenever they are excited, that really means a lot.”
Joining Wyle and Ball were Katherine LaNasa who plays nurse Dana Evans and Taylor Dearden who plays Dr. Mel King.
The cast was also surprised with a large chalk mural of the entire cast by Pittsburgh artist Erik Greenawalt.
A casting call for the show resulted in a tremendous response with more than 28,000 people signing up to be extras.
"Welcoming THE PITT cast and production team back to AGH has become a wonderful tradition for us each fall," said Imran Qadeer, MD, AGH president. "We are so pleased to continue our collaboration with the show.”
The multi-Emmy Award-winning show has been described as frontline workers as the most accurate depiction of the kind of things they go through in their day-to-day work.
Season 3 of “The PITT” will debut in January on HBO Max.
