Just days after damaging storms came through, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of people around Western Pennsylvania, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a large part of the area.

Allegheny, Washington, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Greene Counties are a few of the areas under the watch until 7 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service says some storms have been developing in western Ohio with up to golf ball-sized hail observed.

The main threat coming from the storms is the hail and damaging wind.

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey said during a news conference on Friday afternoon that the incoming weather is not expected to delay the efforts to restore power to people that have been in the dark since Tuesday.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, over 100,000 people were still without power in Allegheny County.

The possibility of strong storms moving through the area will last into the evening.

Rain is expected to fall through the weekend, with chances for precipitation through at least Tuesday.

Any storms that do move through are NOT expected to be as strong as the front that came through Tuesday.
