PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) A train has derailed in Harmar Township near the 2400 block of Freeport Road.

Emergency officials on the scene discovered that there is oil in the Allegheny River from the derailment. The priority at this time is to mitigate the hazard. The river is still closed from Harmar Township to the Point.

It is being reported that the locomotive hit a construction truck, causing the derailment.

The construction dump truck was attempting to cross the tracks when it was struck by the train.

The construction vehicle driver and the two train conductors have been transported to the hospital.

According to reports, 17 cars derailed, 9 of them fell into the creek below.

The creek leads into the Allegheny River.

Emergency officials confirm some cars were carrying sweet crude oil and the others were carrying a buffer.

Two cars on land are leaking but emergency leaders say hazmat crews contained a good bit of those leaks on the land.

A rail bridge was taken out in the derailment.

This is a developing story, updates will be provided when they become available.
