Two mobile food trucks were recently shutdown on two separate college campuses.
The Allegheny County Health Department reports that Del Vecchio’s Sausage & Fries on Duquesne’s campus and India on Wheels 2.0, operating on Carnegie Mellon’s campus were both ordered closed.
The Health Department says Del Vecchio’s had a “lack of potable water, lack of wastewater retention tank, lack of handwashing facilities” and was open and operating without a valid food permit from the ACHD.
India on Wheels had a lack of potable water supply and “inadequate employee personal hygiene.
Del Vecchio’s closing was posted on the Health Department’s website on April 21, India on Wheels was posted on April 17.
Neither facility has been removed as of April 28.
Del Vecchio’s also operates a ghost kitchen in Vandergrift. That facility is not affected by the mobile unit being shut down.
