Upper St. Clair is now officially the latest school district in the region to adjust the district's start times so that students can get more sleep.
School directors on Wednesday unanimously voted to have classes beginning a half hour later.
Under the approved plan, high schoolers will start at 8 a.m., elementary students will begin at 8:35 and middle schoolers will start at 8:55.
The push toward later start times is largely based on studies showing that when students get more sleep there is less absenteeism, more alertness and higher grades.
