If you commute from the eastern suburbs, hope may be on the way.

Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman along with US Representatives Summer Lee and Chris DeLuzio announced close to $150 million dollars in federal infrastructure funding to attempt to improve the Parkway East and East Busway.

A 2019 study ranked that stretch before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel as the fifth most congested highway in the country.

The grant is slated to rehabilitate 10 bridges, a new flood wall, stabilize hills prone to landslides and other upgrades.

There will also be a new inbound bus lane from Churchill to a new off ramp at Edgewood.

Many believe the improvements will be a big boost to the area's economy.
