PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - The Pennsylvania Utility Commission encouraged consumers to check their electric bills last week, after price changes were announced.
"The rates haven't changed," said Nils Hagen-Frederiksen, press secretary for the PUC said Tuesday during the KDKA Radio Morning Show. "What has changed is the energy costs, or the price for the kilowatt hours of energy that your getting. Those prices reset depending on the utility every three months, or every six months, and June 1 is one of those dates every year."
If you are looking for an alternative, the PUC operates a neutral, independent electric shopping website called PAPowerSwitch.com.
"You type in your zip code, it will tell you what your local utility is and it will give you a list of the competitive offers that are out there for your area," Hagen-Frederiksen said.
