The sister of the man fatally shot in Butler County last July during a rally for then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump is upset no members of the Secret Service are losing their job.
Six members of the Secret Service have been suspended for the security breakdowns ahead of the assassination attempt on President Trump at the Butler Farm Show grounds on July 13, 2024.
But Kelly Meeder, the sister of victim Corey Comperatore, says that isn’t good enough.
“My brother’s dead, he’s never coming back,” Meeder tells KDKA Radio. “they can return to their jobs on restricted duty. My brother’s never coming back.”
The suspensions range from 10 to over 40 days without pay or benefits.
Secret Service Deputy Director Matt Quinn defended the decision to not fire anyone and will instead focus on fixing what went wrong that day.
But Meeder says, “Why are they being suspended now, for 10 to 42 days? We’ve been without Corey for a year.”
Listen above as Meeder explains their continuing pain, grief and now, with the Secret Service’s decision, anger.
Two other men were shot that day and continue to recover.
Shooter Thomas Crooks was fatally shot by police during the incident.
