An Elk County woman pleaded guilty in federal court in Erie to wire fraud after embezzling close to $1 million from her employer.
Melissa Bittler of was the office manager and bookkeeper for a construction company in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, which is about two and a half hours north east of Pittsburgh.
The 41-year-old woman embezzled more than $765,000 from the company and used the money to renovate her home and purchase a Honda Pilot.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 4. Bittler faces up to 60 years in prison, a $750,000 fine or both.
