Khalil Darden and his friends saw an empty space in the black community. Particularly with the black youth in Pittsburgh who needed mentors, leaders, supporters, teachers, and just people who cared about them.
The focus from our youth doesn't stretch as far as you'd think because every day, they have to think about survival and be the support they need for each other. Many are helping to raise their siblings, some are working part time jobs and going to school, some are homeless, and some are simply lost.
YBMKQ is an organization that provides the resources and the outreach our youth needs to get them further than where they see themselves. Supplying after school activities, camp, mentoring, job readiness, and more, YBMKQ is exactly what our young men and women (black men and women) need today!
