Ki Ki talks with Johnnie Geathers of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated, (founded September 19, 1963 at Morgan State University in Maryland) Beta Omicron Omega Chapter here in Pittsburgh (founded February 27, 2009).
Geathers is the Director of Community Service for the organization's Atlantic Region and locally the Community Service chair.
The organization focuses on various community service projects including the I-Shied program (which stands for Iotas Saving, Healing, Improving and Empowering Lives Daily). This initiative educates the community on the importance of human trafficking, sexual, elder, domestic and elder abuse.
Another is the Iota Youth Alliance where male youth are the primary focus. The brothers take on roles as mentors in helping them in areas of education, service, peer alliance and more.
