When politicians and public agencies didn't help, this guy did

Tonya Todd needed help. For nearly four years she begged for help. The Homewood resident lived with a foot a raw sewage in her basement. She lived with no hot water.

The waste, the filth, the odor was disgusting.

A tiny pump and a hose pumped the sewage from her basement into the alleyway behind her home.  Put that picture in your brain for a moment.

Tonya is nearly seventy. She knows her neighborhood. She knows her political leaders. She was desperate for help. Her Councilperson said no. He state rep said no.

Every single government agency said no. The message was loud and clear, live with it.

Tonya Todd’s desperate cry for help ended up in my email box. It ended up as a live read on my talk show.

Political leaders didn’t respond. Public agencies didn’t respond. But Ken Cuccaro responded.

Ken Owns Cuccaro Plumbing. His business is half a mile from Tonya’s house.  I talked, and Ken acted.

The lifelong plumber attacked the problem. What got no response from politicians for over four years got immediate responses from Ken Cuccaro.

Late this week he had a crew at Tonya’s home. He is fixing the problem. Right now he is taking on a fifty thousand dollar plumbing job and not charging Tonya a dime!

Within a week, she will have hot water and new plumbing. She’s so grateful. She’s so thankful.

She believes we can make a difference together. She believes in great men like Ken Cuccaro. And so do I.

I too am grateful.
