Pittsburgh police have charged a woman with criminal homicide and other crimes in the death of her 3-year-old granddaughter.
Police were called to an apartment at Allegheny Center on East Ohio Street Sunday morning to investigate the death of Ayla Miller who had been staying with 56-year-old Denise Johnson.
The girl's body was covered with bruises and scratches and a mark consistent with a cigarette burn was found on an ankle.
Johnson is being held at the Allegheny County jail.
She also faces charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and abuse of a corpse.
