A Moon Township mother continues to recover after a large piece of ice came off a tractor-trailer and crashed into her windshield while she was driving on the Parkway West late last month
Madeline Grace was driving on the highway the morning of January 31 ,when the ice came off the truck traveling in the opposite direction, crashing through her windshield.
Ice and glass showered on Grace while her young daughter sat in the backseat.
Grace was able to block most of the debris from hitting her daughter, but suffered multiple facial injuries.
Last week, Maddie, as her friends call her, had surgery on her orbital bone.
Doctors used a metal plate and screws to repair her orbital floor.
“She is in a significant amount of pain,” her friend Leigha writes on her GoFundMe. “Right now, we are taking things moment by moment. We don’t fully know how long her recovery will take, but we do know it’s going to require time, rest, and patience.”
With Maddie unable to work, bills are adding up, along with mounting insurance costs.
