A longtime employee at McDonald's Gibsonia location retired today, after 45 years with the company.

Dot Sharp started working at the Golden Arches in 1978 at the location near the Turnpike and Route 8, eventually becoming a manager and later moving to McDonald's in Gibsonia.

Dot stepped aside due to health problems in 2014, recovered and came back.

“In 2015, I dropped down from management and worked the drive-thru for them,” said Sharp.

And it was at the drive-thru where Dot served her regular customers,

“I got to know a lot of them by name and sometimes we’d stand and talk for a little while and hold up other customers,” Sharp said laughing.

While she is sad to leave, she plans to visit the restaurant often.

“I love the people that I work with, I love the people that come here as customers,” said Sharp. “I have very good customers, the best customers in the world.”

She says she stuck around for so long because she loved everyone she worked with

She turned 84 last month and plans to enjoy retirement with her two children, who are already retired.

“We’re going to keep each other busy so that we keep moving around and keep going,” said Sharp.
